March 8th, Save The Date.

As many of you may know, Women’s Day is coming right up and we truly couldn’t be more excited to celebrate all the beautiful, unique, passionate women leaders in the entire world. Although Women’s Day is celebrated on different dates throughout the world, today we’re here to talk about the Russian celebration for this day.

On March 8th, Russia celebrates International Women’s Day. Followed by the New Years' celebration, Women’s Day in Russia is one of the biggest public holidays seen on the streets. Everyone in the city goes out to congratulate and celebrate how far women have come up to this day. Usually, men celebrate the women in their lives with their favorite flowers, and after that, they celebrate the usual ways: eating, dancing, and commemorating every woman out there. Now let’s talk a little history… Women’s Day in Russia dates back to the pre-revolution days.

It was first celebrated in Russia on the last Sunday of February 1913, in conjunction with the peace movement on the eve of the First World War. The demonstrations marking International Women’s Day in Russia proved to be the first stage of the Russian Revolution. In 1917, Russian women rallied on the last Sunday of February for their right to bread and peace. Four days later the last tsar was forced to abdicate and women won their right to vote. After converting the date to the Gregorian calendar, 8 March became International Women’s Day. Hooray for WOMEN!

Women deserve to be celebrated every single day. They are strong, bold, independent, leading, nurturing, and have the ability to create life inside them. How can we not admire everything about women? But the real question is… how are you going to celebrate this unique commemorative date and make the women in your life feel extra special? We’ve certainly got an idea. What do flowers sound like? But not just any flower, we’re talking about Hydrangeas, specifically our Verena Pink and pink varieties as a symbol of love to all the women in the world.

Get prepared and stocked up on your favorite pink varieties before they run out for the celebration! Don’t say we didn’t tell you.
